Aquolina – Pink Sugar Body Mousse – Review May 4, 2012

Today I bring you Aquolina Pink Sugar Body Mousse from my April Beauty Army Kit. This is a light pink jiggly cream that goes on pretty smooth. This is one of those samples that comes in a foil packet. I put this in one of my jars so that I could re-seal the product and use it lots of times. This little sample gave me about 15 uses on my full legs. It is hydrating and leaves my skin feeling nice. It has a mild scent which is just fine for a body lotion, it is a light flowery scent.  Overall while I did like this and used the entire sample, I do prefer my  whipped cream from Fortune cookie soap.

Will I get this again? Probably not – I’ll stick with the Fortune cookie soap whipped cream/body butter.

Will I finish the sample? I just finished it last night – it went a long way.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.68
Full Size: 8.45 oz
Full Size Price:  $30.00
Sample Value: $2.41

YoungBlood – Hi-Definition Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder April 30, 2012

Today I bring you the YoungBlood – Hi-Definition Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder from my April Sindulge box.  This is a white powder  that goes on transparent. It can be used as a setting powder.  I don’t have a lot of use for a setting powder.  I did however receive an eyeliner that wanted to transfer to the upper part of my lid so I used this product and it totally kept the transfer from happening.

While I don’t usually have a need for setting powder this one really did a good job, and I will keep it around for my occasional setting powder need.  If you need or use a setting powder frequently this one is great and you should try it.

Would I buy this again? If I need a setting powder I totally would..

Will I finish this sample? Yep I really like it .

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.02 oz
Full Size: 0.35 oz
Full Size Price:  $40.00
Sample Value: $2.28

By Terry – Echantillon Creme de Rose – Review April 23, 2012

Today I bring you the By Terry Echantillon Creme de Rose from my April Beauty Bar Sample Society Box. This thick cream has a soft crushed rose sent (gosh I never would have guessed from its name *snicker*). It absorbs into the skin at an average rate leaving a slight creamy feeling to the skin after 10 minutes. It claims to have ingredients that help tighten up your skin giving a more useful appearance and is intended to be used each morning on the face, neck and décolleté (upper chest around the collar bones).

How does it perform?

Beats me. I tried it at night because I didn’t want to have a negative reaction and have to live with it all day, but the smell was so strong since you have a scent – even though not as strong as perfume so close to your nose. Luckily I was quite tired so I fell asleep despite the scent. I woke up about 8 hours later – started my daily activites without remembering what I did just before bed (applying the cream) and within a few minutes I started wondering what the strong scent that was following me was. Then I remembered…8 hours later and the scent was still there.

There is no way I can use it again – the scent is just too sweet, and even near my collar bones is too overwhelming for me. I truly wish I could say that this cream gives you an instant facelift, but I can’t bear to have it on to find out.

If you like the smell of sweet roses then you may like this. I’d suggest going and finding a sample before buying a full priced one since this scent will probably make or break it for you.

Will I buy it again? No, I really can’t use with with the fragrance.

Will I finish the sample? No, again, I really can’t use with with the fragrance.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size:  0.14 oz
Full Size: 1.01 oz
Full Size Price: $99.00
Sample Value: $13.72

Boscia – Purifying Cleansing Gel – Review April 19, 2012

In my April Beauty Bar box I received the Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel as one of my samples. I have enjoyed Boscia brand products in the past so I jumped right in on the sample.  I finished my 5 days of using the Babor Hy-Oil from another sample subscription and broke out the Boscia.

How did it work?  This clear runny gel removes most makeup with a gentle minimal lather. It is certainly not sudsy like soap but it does change consistency from gel to lather-ish. It cleans reasonably well and has no real scent.

It doesn’t seem to do any better or worse than most other cleansers.  I do not feel as if my skin is as refreshed as when I use my Derma E or my 3 lab cleanser.  The price falls between the Derma E and the 3 lab, and since I don’t like it as much as either there isn’t a clear benefit to switching to it.

Will I buy it again? No, it is expensive and I don’t adore it

Will I finish the sample? Sure – it cleans well and doesn’t irritate my skin.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size:  1.69 oz
Full Size:   5 oz
Full Size Price: $26.00
Sample Value: $8.78

Today I found a neat little treat in my mailbox, my April Look bag.  So the look bag gives you a “reusable bag” every month full of neat new beauty products.Lots of people have not been enjoying this sample subscription but I’m pretty happy with it! This month there seemed to be two different bags, but they were very similar, at least in brands included.

My March Look Bag – Wrap Up April 16, 2012

I’ve had a chance to use and review all of the products from my March and decide on how much I liked them. So now it is time to do my box wrap up.

In case you don’t remember, here is a summary of the Awesomeness level:

Box Awesomeness Level Review (AL)

  • 5 points for an item that surpasses everything else I’ve tried and becomes my #1 choice for what role it fulfills
  • 4 points for an item that becomes added to my permanent collection of cosmetics and I will repurchase
  • 3 points for an item that joins my “I might buy this again” list
  • 2 points for an item I finished or will finish the entire sample of but in the end decided not to re-purchase
  • 1 point for an item that I tried and immediately threw out/gave away
  • 0 points if the item was a duplicate of something from a previous bag/box/kit that only scored a 1 in that box – meaning I knew enough to not even bother with trying it.
  • Don’t forget that I subtract 1/2 point for samples that can only be used 2 or fewer times.

Yesterday I shared my Beauty Army Kit, and shortly thereafter the generous UPS driver left me my lovely Beauty Army Kit – unfortunately I only knew about it because I received a UPS text that a package was left at my front door! (this is an awesome new tool on the UPS web site if you haven’t already signed up!) Once I got home I ripped into the box, of course I had stalked the website to see what I’d be getting first, but hey – why not right?

.

So what came in the box?
