Opi – Kiss Me On My Tulips July 3, 2012

Today I bring you the Opi (Kiss me on my Tulips – from the Holland collection) that I received in my May Glossy Box.

I want to start by saying I hate pink.  Yes, I am a girl, but I just never got into the color, so when I saw that I got a PINK nail polish (not pinkish orange, or pinkish yellow, or nearly red, or pinkish purple) I cringed. Then I did my dutiful blogger thing and tried it on.

Magic did occur. No, I don’t love pink all of a sudden or understand some women’s facination with the color, but I did immediately warm to this vivid color. It looked fantastic on my hands. As is typical with the OPI formula, it goes on smooth with no streaking. I could have gotten by with 1 thick coat but opted for two thinner coats. The wear lasted the typical 2 days on me (which is equivalent to about 6 for a normal person) with my standard overuse of my hands.

Will I buy this product again? Yes, Opi polishes are fabulous, and if I ran out of this one I might even buy PINK again!

Will I finish the sample? Yes – it will go into my collection immediately.

Here’s The Breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.5 oz
Full Size: 0.5 oz
Full Size Price: $8.50
Sample Value: $8.50

LaROCCA Skincare Lip Shield (Proseco) Review January 19, 2012

Continuing my 6 part series of my new Beauty Army Kit where I review each of my new samples and their relative value.

Today I’m going to share my opinion of the LaROCCA Lip Shield in Proseco. I picked this as one of my 6 samples (out of my nine options) from the new beauty sample kit, Beauty Army.  This was the item I was second most excited about – still makeup – get it?

Let’s start with the packaging.  It is a normal plastic tube that can be applied by squeezing the product out onto the lips or a finger. This is fairly common even among high end brands including Lancome’s juicy tubes, Urban Decay’s Lip Love, and Smashbox’s O-Gloss. I did like that they gave it a matte finish which is a thing that makes it stand out.

So, yay! I liked the packaging. What did I think about the product.

Anastasia Illumin8 with Youghful Synergy™ Review October 20, 2011

Today I bring you the Anastasia Illumin8 with Youghful Synergy™ palette. I chose palette number 1 when I bought this product. The colors really seemed to be more me than the other palettes – also they had more colors as some of the palettes “duo” space only held one color. Anyway this palette holds 8 different colors. Starting from left to right there are (my descriptions – there are no names on the packaging): Matte Beige, Shimmery Beige, Shimmery Dusty Rose, Shimmery Brownish Burgundy, Shimmery Pepto Bismal Pink, Shimmery dusty brown, Shimmery lavendar, and Shimmery eggplant.  None of the Shimmers are incredibly shiny – though the beige does come the closest.

Lets see if I liked it and how much.

Resurrected mani October 8, 2011

My pink manicure I did for yesterday started chipping (I’m so hard on my nails) but I knew I wasn’t going to have time to do a fresh mani. My solution was to throw some crackle over it. Solved!

The colors used were Essie – Miami nice and Sally Hansen – vintage violet crackle. Came out ok, don’t you think?

Nails for a cure October 7, 2011

Every Friday this month I will be doing my nails in a color or scheme related to Breast Cancer Awareness.

As you may know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. If you are at a grocery store and there is a choice between the normal packaging and pink packaging – grab the pink because during this month those special products typically have some amount of the profit donated to one of the breast cancer charities.

If you want a quick easy way to donate money click this link. I’ve got my two favorite charities here (this is also my bridal registry – I just want donations to breast cancer research). I am NOT a pink person, but for my mom, and

survivors like her I will wear pink – even on my nails.

And here they are! These are a lovely magenta that has a tiny bit of a blue tint depending on the angle. I don’t recall the color’s name but I will replace this sentence once I find out.

Lancôme free gift with purchase review of “Pinks” palette September 21, 2011

As I discussed in my previous post, I took advantage of Macy’s “Free gift with Lancôme purchase” last month and got a load of awesome samples. Today I’ll share the “Pinks” palette.

This palette has four different colors, three of which are available in Lancôme’s
color design singles line*.  The four colors are (top left to bottom right) Designer*, Pink Pearls*,  Lava and Exhibition*.  The color design singles are each 0.042 oz, and in this palette each is 0.03 oz for a total of 0.12 oz – so these get pretty close to full size products.  As with all of the Lancôme products I’ve tried before, each of these is smooth and nicely pigmented.

I find it amusing that “Pink Pearls” is actually the only matte color in the entire set – you’d think that something with the pearl name would have a sheen. Anyway, that one is the color of cotton candy. Exhibition sounds like such a gaudy name but it is actually just a nice dusty rose shadow with a light sheen. Designer is supposedly a metallic green, but it just seems like a standard shimmer to me.  Finally, Lava is a dark pinkish brown that is a shimmer. This is my least favorite color in the set, but I still like it.
