Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Gel Cream Liner Review October 7, 2011

My favorite drug store brand remains Physicians Formula. I have been using today’s product for months now, but not talked about it too much. It is the Shimmer Strips custom eye enhancing gel cream liner for Green Eyes.

What is it, you ask? It is a set of 3 cream/gel eye liners that compliment your eye color – so you buy the set for the color your eyes are (green, blue, brown, hazel). My eyes (as you’ve probably noticed from the mascara comparisons) are green – so I bought the green set.

This particular set has three colors, matte green, matte purple, and black with green sparkles – very subtle sparkles. They come in three little pots that have caps that allow them to attach to each other – I consider them lego’s for adults.  Some people have siad they have trouble getting these apart, but truly, you just pull really hard and they come off – you won’t break anything (you can also try prying with a screwdriver or butter knife).

Unlike many stack-able potted products these each have their own caps instead of using the bottom of the next product as a cap, which allows you to throw just one in your purse or keep them all together – whichever you want.

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer – Review October 1, 2011

I’m moving this week so everything feels crunched and weird. I’m having trouble getting to things that are normally pretty easy to get to – like sharing information with you! Anyway, I’m at work now and have a few minutes of down time so I snapped a photo then continued on with finishing my makeup.

Today I bring you Physicians Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer in Fair to Light. I have trouble with their color descriptions and as such have three, and once applied I can’t see a difference between them. I’ll try to do a color comparison another day. Anyway, the one in my stash at work is the Fair to light color. This tinted moisturizer only has an SPF of 15, which makes it fine for the office and quick runs to and from my car, but I stick with my Dr. Jart+ Beauty Balm (SPF45) when I’m going to be outside for more than 30 mins straight.

This tinted Moisturizer feels really thin and has a bit of a scent – maybe a light tea-tree sort of smell, but not overwhelming or obnoxious. It goes on smooth and even, as if you are only using a light moisturizer. Some people have called it greasy, but I’m pretty sensitive to such things and this one didn’t feel that way (unless I glob it on)

Physicians Formula Organic 2-in-1 Bronzer & Blush Review September 24, 2011

Awhile back I picked up Physicians Formula Organic 2-in-1 Bronzer & Blush in “Light Bronzer / Pink Rose”.  I’ve mentioned my “at work stash” and this is part of the stash. I use it often.

Should I start with pro’s or con’s? Should I start with the packaging or the product?

Lets do the good stuff first. The Bronzer is an awesome formula that is really smooth and not chalky. It comes out of the palette evenly and applies to the face the same way. It is a very nice camel color and I use it for contouring on my cheeks.

The Blush is a nice rosy color that gives me a very natural flushed look. I use it mostly on the apples of my cheeks.

Also, when they are blended together they are a nice warm sun kissed look.

Onto the not-so-good good. The packaging is atrocious! It is this paper covered cardboard thing. As you can see after some use it ends up looking quite dingy. It looks like I’ve never washed my hands before using it (and believe me, I do wash my hands frequently).  So on the top side are the colors and below is a mirror and a brush. Both have a clear plastic window. The window gets really grubby looking – especially on the brush side. The mirror isn’t really usable since it is exactly opposite the colors, and again if you use the brush it gets horribly distorted. The brush is poor to mediocre but I used it for awhile before realizing how great a good brush feels.

Now the negatives about the two colors…The blush ends up being a little granular after a number of uses. It feels like there are tiny pebbles inside it. If you look at the close up you will see them. The colors are also not very pigmented at all. It takes a lot of product to get any color pay-off.

All I’ve got on is mascara, eyebrow powder, and tinted moisturizer and the blush and bronzer. It gives you a good idea of what it does on a completely clean palette.

It is good enough for me to not feel the need to go buy something to replace it, but I won’t buy this one again.
