Naked 1 Palette February 4, 2012

I know I am the last kid to class on getting my Naked 1 palette up on my blog – but I was saving it until I could do it right. I had more spare time than usual so I got out the good camera and busted out lightroom.  I’m sure glad I did because if I didn’t there is no way I could have gotten the colors as close as I did (which isn’t perfect even with all the extra care).

Lots of people love their Naked palette, and there is no real question why – the colors are great and the formulas are typical of Urban Decay. Each of the 12 colors are 0.05 oz which is the size of the individually sold shadow singles that retail for $17.00 each.  They are each housed inside of a velvet covered cardboard case.  The palette, when I got it, came with one of the Urban Decay Karma brushes and a sample size of the primer potion.

Inside is a medium sized mirror and all of the colors.  You can do anything from a super neutral eye all the way to a very glam smokey eye.  There are all different types of finishes too. There are some matte, some pearl/shimmer, and a couple heavy glitter shadows.

Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss – Sheer Color “POP” review September 15, 2011

Good Morning Everyone!

Good Morning!

I was super excited this morning to see that I’d gotten my first 2 comments (or at least those that weren’t filtered by the spam filter) but alas to my dismay the comments were indeed spam, just better than the typical spam. I know you’re reading – tell me what you like so I can do more of that!

On to the review. Smashbox is a hit and miss brand for me. I like their halo perfecting powder (more to come on that someday) and their photo finish  primer, but most of their colored cosmetics do nothing for me – to the point that I don’t buy them.  There have been a few that are tempting, but when I turn around and see things that scream my name over at Urban Decay, Too Faced, and Lancôme, it’s a little too easy to walk away.

Anyway, earlier this year I purchased the  Sephora Favorites Set For Summer just to try to get some more variety and not the same stuff I’d been buying. One of those items was the Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss – Sheer Color in “POP”. This is with me all the time now.

L’OREAL Wear Infinite 320 Greens Review August 5, 2011

Its Friday!!! Yay, as RB says “Fun Fun Fun Fun, Lookin forward to the weekend” ok enough with you-tube songs.

Today I bring you something from my stash that I had BEFORE I discovered Sephora – yes I know Sephora existed before I discovered it – ok bad joke.  Yes, back to my drugstore beauty products phase (from when I was a kid to ~6 months ago), I like the “match your eye color” stuff since I love my eyes, and I  like making them pop, and while I know the basics of a color wheel I am by no means an artist – so they are helpful. I picked out the “L’OREAL Wear Infinite Studio Secrets Professional Eye Shadow” in 320 Greens. It claims to be for Green/Hazel eyes. I know my pictures kinda stink but my eyes are GREEN and many companies like to clump that into Hazel with Green – but that’s far better than the ones that pretend Green Eyes don’t exist *thanks Smashbox*.

Ok, first, that name is far too long to write every time so I’ll call it 320 Greens. 320 Greens is a 4 color compact that contains 0.04 oz of each color, helpfully numbered to assist with those who are makeup challenged.  I don’t use this compact a lot, but it has made it into my purse a good 20 times, so you can see from the photo that while the case is still in one piece the “pretty” chrome detailing now looks ugly.  Why on earth would you put your product in a package that will look bad LONG before the product is used up. Anyway, this case is very small, small enough for a pocket – as you will see below with a quarter as a reference. These are smooth to the touch but not easy to get a lot of color from and they come with a sponge applicator. I can’t quite describe the finish – somewhere between matte and shimmer, like the back side of a piece of satin.

Too Faced Natural Eye Palette Review August 4, 2011

Hello fellow beauties! Today I bring you the Too Faced Natural Eye Palette.  I’ve heard a lot of people say some not so nice things about the palette, like that it is bland or boring. I think it’s a good addition to any stash. The top row is the standard matte that can be used for anything. The second row is a little edgier due to the shimmer in the shadows, but it is still easy to do subtle.  The third row deemed “fashion” is a fun one to work with.

Now, I’m a neutral skin tone so I’m lucky, I can wear silver, gold, red, and beige and look nice regardless, so I’m wondering if people don’t like this palette because they are the wrong skin tone to pull it off. It seems that warmer skin tones would pull it off better than cool

Tarte Neutral Eyes Volume II July 13, 2011

So, I work in a fairly professional environment, and much to my dismay I need to keep my makeup fairly toned down. My collegues are mostly men, and the women in the department are used to the male dominated workplace (or have given up caring) so they don’t tend to wear any makeup. If I were to wear bright colors I’d stick out like a sore thumb.

As a result, one of my standby for Monday through Thursday is my Tarte Neutral Eyes Volume II.
