One- Olive Oil Nourishing enrichment all in one skincare – Review April 5, 2012

Today I bring you One- Olive Oil Nourishing enrichment all in one skincare. I received this in the March Look Bag. This is a formula that is intended to be multi purpose product which can be used in the bat, rubbed into the skin, used in the hair and more. I am always wary of multi purpose products – they tend to do everything OK, but nothing incredibly well. I was not anxious to try this product.

I first tried it as a face cleanser (one of the listed uses on the ONE website). My face felt more icky than when I started. I know some people swear by using olive oil as a cleanser – but not for me. Another day I tried using it to reduce frizzies and add shine to my hair. It did this OK but not as well as some of the john freida products like frizz ease.  I finally tried it as a body moisturizer. Yes, it did moisturize, but I felt oily and greasy the rest of the day – I hate oily residue on my skin.

Overall, while this is probably a nice product it seems to me I could just go buy some extra virgin olive oil and it would work just as well. This product is not for me and I plan to discontinue trying it now that I’ve given it a fair shot.

Will I buy this product again? No
Will I finish the sample? No

Here’s the breakdown:
Sample Size 0.25 oz
Full Size 6 oz
Full Size Price $ 23.99
Sample Value $1.00

Weleda Iris Hydrating Day Cream – Review April 3, 2012

A few weeks ago I brought you the Weleda Iris hydrating facial lotion that I received from Beauty Army. During March I received another product from Weleda, the Iris Hydrating Day Cream. The first one was pretty good so I expected similar results from this one.

I am not much of a day cream person because my BB cream is moisturizing and has an SPF so I never really felt a need to use an additional product. But I figured I have it so I’ll give it a go.

This cream has a thick consistency and an off white, almost yellow color.  The cream spreads thin and is absorbed quickly. It feels light weight.

Like the hydrating facial lotion it worked well in my normal and oily areas, but where my skin was dry it just didn’t moisturize enough.

Will I get it again? No, like I said my BB cream does everything this does and more.

Will I finish the sample? Sure, it was good, just not good enough to buy again.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.17 oz
Full Size: 1 oz
Full Size Price:  $20.00
Sample Value: $3.40

The Sun FX Body Shimmer – Review April 2, 2012

Just in time for spring is the Sun FX Body Shimmer which I received from Beauty Army in my March Kit. I was pretty excited about this – what goes better with a cute skirt than pretty shiny legs. I didn’t really know what to expect but I figured it couldn’t be too bad.

This product is intended to be hydrating and illuminating. The cream is a medium thickness that looks sort of like a pearl finish.  It is mildly moisturizing but not intensively, I personally wish it had been more moisturizing.  It smells like almonds, and it is very pleasant.

How about the shimmer? Well, when it is first rubbed on (and a little goes a LONG way) it is intensely shimmery.  After about 20 minutes the shimmer disappears and goes away completely. I would have preferred that it stay longer – what’s the point of applying shimmer if it just goes away?

Would I buy it again? No, it wasn’t so amazing for me to spend more money on

Will I finish the sample? Yes, might as well.

Here is a photo of my skin with the cream and without the cream so you can see the shimmer difference.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 2.2 oz
Full Size: 6.7 oz
Full Size Price: $24.95
Sample Value: $8.19

Indie Lee the Daily Moisturizing Oil in Vanilla Citrus Review March 29, 2012

Today I bring you Indie Lee the Daily Moisturizing Oil in Vanilla Citrus. This oil is really nice light oil. It smells like lemons and vanilla ice cream.  The oil is nearly instantly absorbed into the skin.

I’ve never used a moisturizing oil before  and I wasn’t sure I was using it right. It seems everyone who sells moisturizing oils expects people to already know how to use a moisturizing oil! Geesh! Finally after 6 pages of googling I found one site that explained how to use it – since oil is a better sealant than moisturizer it is suggested that you use these sorts of oils while the skin is moist (like right after a shower) or after you use a light moisturizer, that way it seals in moisture.

My skin is a true combination – my noise and lower forehead are oily, my cheeks are normal, and  under my lips, around my nostrils, and between my eyebrows are dry!  From what I’ve read these moisturizing oils are really only good for dry/damaged skin.

I’m not sure about other moisturizing oils but this one worked just fine on my skin even though its not primarily dry or damaged. My skin felt good, radiant even.  I don’t know if this is something I’d actually purchase regularly, but for the occasional use it is pretty great.

Will I buy it again? Maybe, but it will not be an addition to my daily regimen.

Will I finish the sample? Absolutely!

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.25 oz
Full Size: 4 oz
Full Size Price:  $28.00
Sample Value: $1.75

3Lab Perfect Cleansing Foam Review March 27, 2012

Today I bring you 3Lab Perfect Cleansing Foam from March’s MyGlam Bag. This cleanser is supposed to perform a number of functions: clean, stimulate circulation, purifies, and moisturizes.

Know what? It actually does all of that.  Increadibly, after using this cleanser my skin felt great, I even felt like I didn’t need to put on moisturizer, but my skin did not feel oily (of course I put on moisturizer anyway).

This cream, when it hits air, instantly seems to create a sort-of-foam.  It stays mostly as a cream, but it ends up getting a porous texture. I think the photo sort of shows that…

It also has these really neat little beads (which you can see in the final photo – they are the little orange dots) in it that are made of vitamin E (according to 3Lab) that sort of POP when you rub them into your face.  I think those are likely my favorite part of the whole experience.

Sample Size 3.4 oz
Full Size 3.4 oz
Full Size Price $50.00
Sample Value $50.00

Would I buy it again? Quite likely – its really neat and it seems to do a good job – but I’m going to use up what I’ve got first!

Will I finish the sample? Absolutely

Babor Anti-Stress Jetlag Cream – Review March 25, 2012

Today I bring you Babor Anti-Stress Jetlag Cream, another item from my March Beauty Army Kit. This item seemed pretty luxurious. This cream is intended to help reinvigorate skin, moisturize, and keep the body’s biorhythms in sync.

This white thick cream has very little scent – which I appreciate in a face cream – and the little bit of scent is quite plesant. While the cream is thick it spreads easily and evenly. A little truly does go a long way.

I find it refreshing compared to my normal moisturizer, but I honestly don’t see any other real benefits from it. It is nice but it is quite expensive.  Here is the breakdown:
Sample Size: 0.5 oz
Full Size: 1.7 oz
Full Size Price:  $72.00
Sample Value: $21.17

Would I buy it again? Probably not – its really expensive and I don’t see double the benefit of what I’m currently using.

Will I finish the sample? Yes – it is quite nice.

BENTA BERRY G-1 Moisturizing Face Cream – Review March 4, 2012

Today I bring you the Benta Berry G-1 Moisturizing Face Cream.  I received this as part of the February Birchbox.  Apparently this has not been available in the US until now – at least according to Birchbox.  Birchbox says “Beyond its intense moisturizing powers, the creamy formula also regulates skin’s oil levels with a botanical brigade. Blueberry and white dead-nettle purify skin, while jasmine, burdock, and mandarin reduce breakouts and redness. The light, refreshing scent was designed with both genders in mind.”

Yes, this moisturizer is scented.  I’m not big with facial moisturizers that are scented.

G-1 is a fairly thick cream that is quickly absorbed into the skin. It was really nice for the first couple minutes but it quickly lost its moisturizing feel.  I felt, shortly after applying it, like I had not applied any moisturizer.  I did not see any help with my oil levels being controlled or any reduced breakouts. Overall I just didn’t feel like it was any better than some of the stuff I’ve purchased from drugstores that aren’t even name brands.

Will I get it again? No, between the fragrance – which no matter how it smells I do not want in a facial moisturizer and that it didn’t really seem to do anything to benefit my skin, I will not be getting it again.

Will I finish the sample? After using it a couple times I just didn’t see the point so I threw it out and stayed with my normal moisturizer.
