Today I bring you the Karuna Anti-Blemish Treatment Mask that I received in my May Beauty Army Kit (incidentally I ALSO received it as my mystery gift in my June kit – more on that in my June Beauty Army post). Anyway, as I’ve mentioned before I had not ever tried any sort of mask before last year and now I’m addicted. This is the first actual mask (like where you put something in the shape of a face on) that I’ve had the chance to try.  I’ve seen these masks around on Hautelook before and have always been curious about them.

I’m not sure what I was expecting but this was not it… I guess I was thinking that it would be less gooey.  This was gooey – almost gross gooey! So what you do is you take the mask out of the foil.  There is a fabric like mask with a plastic like covering on one side. You are supposed to put the fabric side against your face and then peel off the plastic. and make sure the mask is smooth over your face and that your eyes and mouth are not covered. Then you sit back, relax and wait for a quarter of an hour.

Unlike the non fabric masks I’ve used, this one did not seem to change how it felt after time was up, it still felt as moist and gooey as when I first put it on.  The mask was cool and refreshing, like slathering aloe on your face.

When I took it off my face was still very full of the liquid infused in the product. In the instructions it said to rub it into your face.

The next day my skin had fewer blemishes and felt quite amazing. I’d say this mask was pretty great.

Would I buy it again? If I felt like splurging sometime, yes!

Will I finish the sample? It was a one time use sample – so no.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 1 Mask
Full Size: 4 Masks
Full Size Price:  $28.00
Sample Value: $7.00

Ren Glycolactic Skin Renewal Peel Mask – Review April 1, 2012

Apricots, today we will discuss apricots – or at least something that smells like them. I opened the little sample of the Ren Glycolactic tube and was hit with the scent of mashed apricots – it was amazing. The directions indicate you should apply it to clean dry skin, wait 10 minutes and then rub your face upwards to “lift” the dead skin that it has loosened, and then to wash it off with a damp cloth. Lots of people love this product and it is supposed to be good for people who have sensitive skin. I tried it. I felt some tingling, but no more than when I use my black soap. When I took it off my face was a touch red, just like it normally is after I’ve rubbed something off – the thing is, this red did not go away for over 12 hours.  That is not normal, and that is not the typical results I have heard of from others who have used it.  I think there must be something that my skin just didn’t like about this product.

Will I buy this product again? No, I can’t risk my face staying red that long.

Will I finish the sample? No, not worth the red marks.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.5 oz
Full Size:  1.69 oz
Full Size Price: $55.00
Sample Value: $16.27

Premier Instant Stretching and Revitalizing Mask (aka Cinderella Mask) from Dead Sea Premier Review February 25, 2012

Today I bring you the Premier Instant Stretching and Revitalizing Mask (aka Cinderella Mask) from Dead Sea Premier. This was one of the products featured in February’s MyGlam bag. We were each given 2 Dead Sea samples, and this was the one that everyone got.  Another mask! I went from never having used a mask 1 year ago, to now having tried at least 8 different masks (and owning 3 full size ones).  I’ve really grown to love and appreciate masks and their awesome properties, so I figured – what the hey, I’ll try it.

This mask is touted for being pretty awesome – or at least Dead Sea believes it is pretty awesome with its $110.00 price tag on the full size of this item (or you can get it on Amazon for $20.00).  I personally am challenged when faced with an idea like this – how can it be worth $110 but the same product is sold for 20? Something just doesn’t mesh.  But hey, I’ll try it.

The consistency seemed like a thick tinted moisturizer or a bb cream. It felt kinda like Fango Brillante which I will review another time.

The directions said to leave it on for about 10 minutes. I did that, by the end of the 10 minutes it started firm up.  Now Dead Sea claims that wearing the mask will “result in a “lifting” effect and with fresh and younger looking skin. This mask stimulates and activates the metabolism of the skin tissue and, in return, it reduces evidence of wrinkles. This mask does miracles and that’s why it is also named Cinderella Mask.”

Freeman Feeling Beautiful Goji Berry Hydrating Mask Review February 24, 2012

One of the items I received from my third MyGlam was the Freeman Feeling Goji Berry Hydrating Mask. In my post about the February MyGlam bag I mentioned that I would review it later. Well, here we are 1 day later and I’ve used it!

How did I like it?  As you remember I tried the Cucumber Peel off Mask and really liked it. I’ve used it a few times since then and I still like it. As a result I was quite excited to try another of the Freeman masks.

This one was not a peel off mask like the last one. It felt the same when I applied it – cool and soothing and thick. There wasn’t anything interesting to show you about when it was on my face – so I don’t have a photo of that.  The Sachet contains enough for two masks.

The mask was to be left on for about 10 minutes. It did not get hard or dry out during this time. I had a little trouble removing it from my face because it was so thick. My face did feel moisturized but not much better than after any of my other facial treatments.

Would I get it again? Probably not; I really liked the cucumber peel off better.

Bad enough to throw out? No, I will use the sample until I run out of it.

These samples run for $1.99 on the freeman beauty site.

Peel away – Freeman Feeling Beautiful Cucumber Peel Off Mask Review January 24, 2012

One of the items I received from MyGlam was the Freeman Feeling Beautiful Cucumber Peel Off Mask. In my post about the January MyGlam bag I mentioned that I would review it later. Well, here we are 1 day later and I’ve used it!

How did I like it?  As you remember I tried the Montagne Jeunesse Passion Peel off Mask and didn’t really love it in the end. After about an hour my skin didn’t feel any better than it had before the mask.

This one was different.  I used the mask as instructed, starting with a clean face, then applying it evenly over my  whole face avoiding my eyes, nostrals, and mouth.  After the low end time (5 mins) my mask was still not set so I waited for the upper limit (10mins) I got half way through removing the peel and found that I still had some wet spots.  That was a disappointment – but I really like what I saw.

.

Here is a photo of me waiting for it to dry, and the second photo is of me peeling off the mask.

My skin felt super soft and fresh immediately after using it, and the next morning my skin still felt more conditioned and happier. At a $4.00 price point this is definitely something I would recommend. Some people have reported having extra break outs as a result of using it, so as with any product, you may want to swatch the product somewhere inconspicuous just in case you have a reaction.

I would not hesitate to pick another of these up again.

What is your favorite Mask?
