Beauty Army’s first ever exclusive product was launched this month and was available in the April kits. I happened to choose it, and realized it was totally new when I tried to find pricing to give you in my initial impressions post. I’ve since gotten the information and it is now also available on the Beauty Army site to purchase the full size product.  What product is this, you ask? (more…)

Aquolina – Pink Sugar Body Mousse – Review May 4, 2012

Today I bring you Aquolina Pink Sugar Body Mousse from my April Beauty Army Kit. This is a light pink jiggly cream that goes on pretty smooth. This is one of those samples that comes in a foil packet. I put this in one of my jars so that I could re-seal the product and use it lots of times. This little sample gave me about 15 uses on my full legs. It is hydrating and leaves my skin feeling nice. It has a mild scent which is just fine for a body lotion, it is a light flowery scent.  Overall while I did like this and used the entire sample, I do prefer my  whipped cream from Fortune cookie soap.

Will I get this again? Probably not – I’ll stick with the Fortune cookie soap whipped cream/body butter.

Will I finish the sample? I just finished it last night – it went a long way.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.68
Full Size: 8.45 oz
Full Size Price:  $30.00
Sample Value: $2.41

JOVIE Jubilee Luxury Body Lotion – Review May 3, 2012

Today I bring you Jovie Jubilee Luxury Body Lotion that I recieved in my April Look Bag. This thick, scented cream has Shea butter, moroccan oil and vitamins in it to help your skin become and stay soft.

The fragrance is sandalwood, cherries and vanilla. I get more of the sandalwood and vanilla than the cherries – I would have preferred the opposite.

It does feel moisturizing, however the scent is quite strong; too strong. Even though it wasn’t near my face, just on my legs and arms, it still smelled too strong, and a scent I don’t like. Perfume doesn’t smell this strong.  I only used it one time because I really couldn’t get there with the fragrance and the scent lasts for hours.

Will I buy this again? No, I really couldn’t stand how perfumed it was

Will I finish the sample? No, the fragrance is too strong for me.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 2 oz
Full Size: 32 oz
Full Size Price:  $14.99
Sample Value: $0.93

The Soap Box – “Voted Best Ever” body lotion in Granny Panties Review March 15, 2012

Here is another product from my Soap Box from Fortune Cookie Soap.

“Voted Best Ever” body lotion in Granny Panties. This is supposed to soften, replenish, and moisturize.  This is a green cream that has little darker green chunks suspended in it – I don’t know what they are but they go away when rubbed into my skin.

I’m not quite sure how to describe the scent, maybe a little like aloe and shea butter? Regardless, it smells fresh and clean and is not obtrusive. My hands feel a tiny bit oily after rubbing this in, but not terribly so. I will keep using this.

This product suffers from the same problem as the hand sanitizer did – the hard container. The full size of this product is 4oz so hopefully in the full size it squeezes out more easily.

This was a 1 oz sample. The normal product is 4 oz and sells for $9.99 the value of this sample was $2.49.

BENTA BERRY G-1 Moisturizing Face Cream – Review March 4, 2012

Today I bring you the Benta Berry G-1 Moisturizing Face Cream.  I received this as part of the February Birchbox.  Apparently this has not been available in the US until now – at least according to Birchbox.  Birchbox says “Beyond its intense moisturizing powers, the creamy formula also regulates skin’s oil levels with a botanical brigade. Blueberry and white dead-nettle purify skin, while jasmine, burdock, and mandarin reduce breakouts and redness. The light, refreshing scent was designed with both genders in mind.”

Yes, this moisturizer is scented.  I’m not big with facial moisturizers that are scented.

G-1 is a fairly thick cream that is quickly absorbed into the skin. It was really nice for the first couple minutes but it quickly lost its moisturizing feel.  I felt, shortly after applying it, like I had not applied any moisturizer.  I did not see any help with my oil levels being controlled or any reduced breakouts. Overall I just didn’t feel like it was any better than some of the stuff I’ve purchased from drugstores that aren’t even name brands.

Will I get it again? No, between the fragrance – which no matter how it smells I do not want in a facial moisturizer and that it didn’t really seem to do anything to benefit my skin, I will not be getting it again.

Will I finish the sample? After using it a couple times I just didn’t see the point so I threw it out and stayed with my normal moisturizer.

Befine Night Cream Review January 31, 2012

In my January Birch Box I received Befine Night Cream. This cream is supposed to help repair damage to skin and provide nourishment while you sleap.  It has some natural ingredients which I can actually pronounce which is always nice. So I went ahead and tried it.

The directions indicate that proper use is to wash your face at night and then apply generously all over your face

The white cream is a fairly normal thickness, not incredibly thick or thin. It spreads over the skin easily and is readily absorbed into (my) skin. There is no real fragrance to speak of, which is good for a night cream.

As usual with any new skin care product I gave it a full week for my skin to get used to it. After a week I still experienced extra breakouts. My skin is naturally a combination between oily, normal, and dry, and in my oily spots this just exasperated the problem.  Right now with my current skin condition this is not the right product for me.  Is it a bad product? No, the product is just fine, just my skin is not the right match for the product.

Because this is not the right product for me I cannot speak to whether it lives up to its promises to repair and nourish skin.
