I’ve had a chance to use and review all of the products from April and decide on how much I liked them. So now it is time to do my bag wrap up.

In case you don’t remember, here is a summary of the Awesomeness level:

Box Awesomeness Level Review (AL)

  • 5 points for an item that surpasses everything else I’ve tried and becomes my #1 choice for what role it fulfills
  • 4 points for an item that becomes added to my permanent collection of cosmetics and I will repurchase
  • 3 points for an item that joins my “I might buy this again” list
  • 2 points for an item I finished or will finish the entire sample of but in the end decided not to re-purchase
  • 1 point for an item that I tried and immediately threw out/gave away
  • 0 points if the item was a duplicate of something from a previous bag/box/kit that only scored a 1 in that box – meaning I knew enough to not even bother with trying it.
  • Don’t forget that I subtract 1/2 point for samples that can only be used 2 or fewer times.

Sheer Cover Review June 4, 2012

Today I bring you the Sheer Cover concealer duo that I received in my “spring beauty” influenster vox box.  This is a set of two concealers that can be blended for your “perfect shade” they cost $29.95 (or can be purchased in the intro set). I also received this a few months ago from MyGlam, but never reviewed it.

So – Want to hear about it?

First, I am super happy that it is not overly yellow – soooo many concealers are – I suppose to hide the red that is associated with most blemishes, but when your skin tone is not that yellow you can look jaundice.

Unfortunately (as you can see from the photo) it is much darker than my skin tone. The point of concealer is to conceal so it is pretty much opaque – so you can’t get away with much color difference from your own skin tone. So, this doesn’t work that great for me, however I’ve had some bad acne lately – that my heavier foundation doesn’t make disappear, and so I have managed to use it fairly inconspicously under that heavier foundation and successfully covered those red blemishes.

It is a nice formula and it doesn’t crack like some concealers I’ve used before. If it matches your skintone then I’d highly recommend it.

So, on to the details; you can buy this from: http://www.sheercover.com as part of the intro set – but according to their website “You must be a current Sheer Cover Home Delivery Member with a web account in order to see the entire catalog. If you have a SheerCover.com web account, please click on the “Log In” button located at the top of your screen and enter your username and password. If you are an active customer and do not have a web account, click here to set up your account. ” so I don’t think you can buy it separate on their site unless you subscribe to them, you can pick it up on other online retailers without the “set”, just google and you will find it.

Would I buy this again? If they started making it in an even lighter duo then yes.

Will I finish the sample? I’ll keep it around and use it occasionally.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips – Review – Video May 30, 2012

Today I bring you the Sally Hansen Real Nail Polish Strips that I received in the Spring Beauty box from Influenster.com.
Check out the video below to see how easy they are to put on… It took about 20 minutes, but it was my first time doing them, also I was awkwardly working around a camera.  That is still faster than going to get a manicure and also less expensive.

The pattern actually looked real rather than printed.  I thought they were great looking, and I did get compliments.  Overall I thought they were pretty nice, and I liked how uniform they felt (compared to when I do nail art). They lasted about 2 full days before chipping, the third day the chipping was light, but I had an interview the next day, and they didn’t look good enough for first impressions so I removed them and did a simple french manicure.

Would I buy this product again? Yes, it was fun and a nice way to get pretty patterns – though I would never get the solid colors, might as well use normal polish for that price.

Will I finish the sample? Theoretically they are a one time use product, but I cut mine in half so I’ll get another use out of them – and yes I will use them again.

You can buy these for between $8 and $10.00 at pharmacies, but keep an eye out because sometimes you can get them on a “Buy one get one 1/2 off” sale, which makes them much more affordable ($6-7.50 each)

Spring is in the air, and influenster sent me another box of goodies.  I really wasn’t expecting them for another couple of days, however, I really can’t complain at it arriving early.  Inside the box or products that you could use to refresh your beauty routine.  These products, I believe, were chosen to put a new spring in your step, pun intended.  So what did they dole out this month?  Well, click the break to read all about it.

Stash Tea – Photo Heavy March 21, 2012

Another neat item I received from Influenster was Stash Tea.  I took TONS of photos. Which you can see below the break.

The flavors match the names of each of the teas – so if you don’t like cinnamon apple then you won’t like the “cinnamon apple” tea 🙂  Overall I really enjoyed the set. My least favorite was Licorice and next was the wild raspberry hibiscus…which surprised me – I usually LOVE raspberry.  Anyway, I really did enjoy every other flavor.

Enjoy the photos!

Venus & Olay Razor from Influenster March 17, 2012

Another item I received from Influenster is the Gillette Venus and Olay Razor. I was super excited about this particular product as it is the first product I’ve ever used that is not yet released to the public. It makes me feel special.  Though I love feeling special I can’t let that sway how I test this particular item.

A couple weeks ago I bought the Venus Spa Breeze. I really liked that it worked well and I loved that I didn’t have to soap up before actually going through with the shaving.  To me it was revolutionary and I couldn’t imagine an improved shave.

Then Influenster goes and sends me this! I expected it to be pretty much as the Spa Breeze Venus. I used it – didn’t need to soap up before the shave, and after? My legs felt smooth and moisturized without a nick on them. I’ve used it for three subsequent shaves and it still is awesome.  This is my new go-to razor.

Aside from the awesome sudsing and moisturizing, this razor has 5 super sharp blades. The head moves to accommodate the natural shapes and curves of legs and underarms. The handle is made of a really neat grippy rubber so that even when its wet it stays securely in my hand.

Below the break are a bunch of pictures of the awesome features!

Truvia Sweetener from Influenster March 15, 2012

Ah Influenster, they sent me another lovely vox box – this one contained a product that I’m excited to share with you – this is Truvia. Truvia is natural but the sweetness comes from the Stevia plant. It apparently has no calories and is considered sweeter than sugar. It can be used as a sugar substitute.

What did I think of it? It was REALLY sweet – nearly too much so. I have been using it in tea (which I will share in a different post) and I use far less of it than I do when I use real sugar.  I think thats a good thing though.  I have heard others say there is an aftertaste but I haven’t noticed it. I haven’t noticed any ill effects of using it either. All in all I think it is a pretty darn good product.

Check out the macro’s here – it has a crystaline structure just like real sugar – pretty neat right?

Would I get it again? Probably – depends on  how convenient it is to buy compared with other sugar.

If you want to read more about recipies or other facts about the product please visit the sweetener’s website. www.truvia.com.
