Essie Luxeffects – Set in Stones and Color Club Neon Nail Polish – Lava Lamp March 26, 2012

Today I bring you two nail polishes I received from my two March Birchboxes, First the Essie Luxeffects in Set in Stones and Color Club in Lava Lamp.

I’ve owned a number of Essie polishes before, but never a glitter.  This one was really nice – it is pretty much opaque with 3 coats, which I can’t get with most glitters.  The color is all different sized silver hex glitters in a clear base.

Next I bring you Color Club’s Lava Lamp – it is BRIGHT orange – love it.  The cream is nice and applies evenly. In 2 coats I had full opacity. This is my first ever color club polish, and I now understand what all the hype is about.  I cannot wait to wear it in real life instead of just on my practice wheel.  As soon as my ASK challenge is over *sigh*

Finally I decided it would be neat to put the two together.  I love it. What do you think?

My pink manicure I did for yesterday started chipping (I’m so hard on my nails) but I knew I wasn’t going to have time to do a fresh mani. My solution was to throw some crackle over it. Solved!

The colors used were Essie – Miami nice and Sally Hansen – vintage violet crackle. Came out ok, don’t you think?

Nails for a cure October 7, 2011

Every Friday this month I will be doing my nails in a color or scheme related to Breast Cancer Awareness.

As you may know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. If you are at a grocery store and there is a choice between the normal packaging and pink packaging – grab the pink because during this month those special products typically have some amount of the profit donated to one of the breast cancer charities.

If you want a quick easy way to donate money click this link. I’ve got my two favorite charities here (this is also my bridal registry – I just want donations to breast cancer research). I am NOT a pink person, but for my mom, and

survivors like her I will wear pink – even on my nails.

And here they are! These are a lovely magenta that has a tiny bit of a blue tint depending on the angle. I don’t recall the color’s name but I will replace this sentence once I find out.

Born pretty plate review August 28, 2011

20110828-224237.jpg I am by no means a professional nail artist, nor am I even “good” but I am playing and learning. Today was the Boeing Classic golf tournament and I was a volunteer. Our uniform was a dark sky blue so I used my Essie polish and did French tips with matte and gloss but by the time I got home the matte had turned to a satin finish. I decided to try one of my stamps from the borne pretty store. I thought that the argyle would look awesome in white over the blue. As you can see the results were neat. I am still not great at stamping, but at least you can tell that it is argyle (the ring finger is silver crackle).

The born pretty plate is supposedly a clone of the Konad plate. The etching is good and complete and has full size patterns. The argyle pattern is very pretty and nicely sophisticated. It is not very expensive and I would highly recommend getting them if you are interested in stamping.
