Sisley-Paris Hydra Global Intense Anti-Aging Hydration – Review July 24, 2012

Today I bring you the Sisley-Paris Hydra Global Intense Anti-Aging Hydration lotion. I had planned on saying that spending that much money on a face cream was ludicrous.  I can’t say that.

This thick, rich, luxurious cream is what skin care dreams are made of. God I wish I had $250.00.  This cream is supposed to return your skin’s hydration balance giving you a more youthful appearance.  I used it the first night, and thought “meh- it is similar to the Erno Laszlo velvet night cream” then I kept using it – for about 5 nights before I ran out. Every morning my skin felt better and better and better – seriously! My face felt soft and smooth, like it had before I hit puberty and had issues with acne. My bb cream went on smoother and more evenly (which I thought was impossible since it went on so nice before), and overall it just looked better.

I swear I didn’t remember this was my expensive face sample at the time, I just had it out on my counter and used it – then I was thinking “I love this” so I went back to see what box it was from – my heart sank.  I can’t afford this – but I need this!

In any case, if you have the cash to spare, get it – seriously you will not be sorry, it is AMAZING.  If you have even more cash to spare please get me one!

Would I buy this again? I plan to save up for it – but my husband is liable to kill me if he sees the price tag.

Will I finish the sample? I did and loved it.

Here’s the breakdown:
Sample Size:  0.14 oz
Full Size:  1.4 oz
Full Size Price: $250.00
Sample Value: $25.00

June Beauty Bar Sample Society July 17, 2012

Today I bring you the June Beauty Bar Sample Society Box. This box is filled with premium goodies again, and that is sooo exciting to me that I can try things lots of times if I want – in order to decide if I want to purchase it in the future. Yes they are mostly still samples – but they are big enough that if I took a week or two vacation I could take them along and not run out until the last day!

I’m was pleased with the boxes contents at first glimps (even though I don’t like perfume samples) and happily began using the products.

So what was included in the box AND how did I like the products? (more…)

July Beauty Bar Sample Society – Initial Impressions July 16, 2012

Today I bring you the July Beauty Bar Sample Society Box and my initial impressions. The first thing that hit me was how empty the box seemed (I actually rifeled through the crinkle cut paper to see if I had missed something. Nope! It was confirmed with the little mini-zine that comes with each box – that was all I would see. I later realized why…we’ll get to that. I’ve used one of the brands before, tried another, heard of a third, but the 4th and 5th sample were totally new brands to me. I’m trying the products out as we speak and I’ll let you know how it all goes!

I’ve had a chance to use and review all of the products from May and decide on how much I liked them. So now it is time to do my bag wrap up.

In case you don’t remember, here is a summary of the Awesomeness level:

Box Awesomeness Level Review (AL)

  • 5 points for an item that surpasses everything else I’ve tried and becomes my #1 choice for what role it fulfills
  • 4 points for an item that becomes added to my permanent collection of cosmetics and I will repurchase
  • 3 points for an item that joins my “I might buy this again” list
  • 2 points for an item I finished or will finish the entire sample of but in the end decided not to re-purchase
  • 1 point for an item that I tried and immediately threw out/gave away
  • 0 points if the item was a duplicate of something from a previous bag/box/kit that only scored a 1 in that box – meaning I knew enough to not even bother with trying it.
  • Don’t forget that I subtract 1/2 point for samples that can only be used 2 or fewer times.

StriVectin SD Intensive Concentrate for Stretch Marks Wrinkles July 8, 2012

Today I bring you the StriVectin Concentrate for Stretch marks and Wrinkles that I received in my May Beauty Bar Sample Society Box.  It is medium-thick cream that is supposed to help reverse the visibility of stretch marks in 2 to 8 weeks.

I have some of these evil lines so I figured I’d pick one small area and apply the cream generously to that one area – that way I’d have enough for at least a few weeks to see if it actually worked.

There is no such thing as magic when it comes to beauty routines, but this comes darn close; after about a month my stretch marks had reduced a bunch, not gone but certainly not as obvious as the untreated areas. At $135 per bottle, though, it is not something I will hurry out and purchase – the marks just don’t bother me enough and aren’t in places you’d see unless we were at the beach.

Would I buy the product again? Yes, if I had spare money and was planning a warm weather vacation and had lost the weight I want to lose then I would probably get it.

Will I finish the sample? Absolutely.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size:   0.75 oz
Full Size: 5.0 oz
Full Size Price: $135.00
Sample Value: $20.25

Colorescience Pro SPF 20 Travel Puff July 4, 2012

Today I bring you the Colorscience Pro SPF 20 Travel Puff that I received in my May Beauty Bar Sample Society box. This makeup puff has the powder embedded within the tool itself and distributes the powder when you tap it against your skin. It is supposed to last you approximately 10 days. The color was pretty close, just made me look a little more tan when I used it, and the matte finish lasted for a good 6 hours (more than I get with normal powder). I like the little travel case, and the disposable idea of it – like if  you go on a trip.

While it is disposable it does end up being a costly little bugger. I am thinking of my smashbox looke halo powder and it was, I believe around $60.00 it lasted me over 90 days worth of use so far, and its not empty.  This one costs about a dollar a day. I think you are paying for the convenience. If you love this powder it might be worth it, but I didn’t love it, I just liked it.  If I’m caught looking shiny while traveling I’ll run to the pharmacy and grab blotting papers for $2.00.

Would I buy this product again? Probably not, I’m trucking all my makeup with me anyway, what is one more container?

Will I finish the sample?  Meh, not worth keeping around to clutter my place.

Here’s the breakdown:
Sample Size:  1 pad
Full Size: 1 pad
Full Size Price: $10.00
Sample Value: $10.00

Fragrance Reviews June 13, 2012

Today I bring you Philosophy’s “love sweet love”, Aquolina’s “Pink Sugar”, and Bond No.9’s “Signature” scents that I received in my May MyGlam Bag, Beauty Army Kit, and Beauty Bar kit.  Since I never find that there is a whole lot to say about fragrances other than what it smells like and if I like it and I received 3 samples last month, I’d just get them all reviewed in one go. Lets Get Started.

Philosophy – love sweet love – this is a light gentle scent. It is apparently one of the newest in the Philosophy lineup.  To me it reminds me off berries and baby powder. It is light enough to wear on a warm day.  It smells nice on me and I don’t mind it at all. I will be keeping the sample and using it occasionally, but I will not be buying it again – I just don’t like it enough to buy a full size.

Bond No.9 – Signature – This is one of the most expensive scents I’ve tried. I will digress and tell you that the containers that each of the Bond No.9 fragrances come in are cute and unique – I love them and would want to collect them all!  This perfume is actually classified as a perfume rather than an “eau de…” which simply means the oils are less diluted. Here is an article on the different categories: What is the meaning and difference…. At first it is quite strong and makes me think of spices. It is not very floral despite the rose inclusion.  I feel like this is a unisex scent and could go just as well on a man as on a woman. I like it but don’t love it. As it wears on my skin it starts to smell more gentle but it never quite hits “sweet”.  I’ll wear it on occasion I suppose.

Aquolina – Pink Sugar – Sugar is right; think Cotton Candy. This is sweet, super sweet.  It reminds me of cotton candy and maybe strawberry funnel cake. While I like those things I don’t really want them on my skin. I’m going to say this is a toss out.  It might be fun for a tween, but it is not mature enough for a 30 year old.

Here’s the Breakdown:
