Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips – Review – Video May 30, 2012

Today I bring you the Sally Hansen Real Nail Polish Strips that I received in the Spring Beauty box from Influenster.com.
Check out the video below to see how easy they are to put on… It took about 20 minutes, but it was my first time doing them, also I was awkwardly working around a camera.  That is still faster than going to get a manicure and also less expensive.

The pattern actually looked real rather than printed.  I thought they were great looking, and I did get compliments.  Overall I thought they were pretty nice, and I liked how uniform they felt (compared to when I do nail art). They lasted about 2 full days before chipping, the third day the chipping was light, but I had an interview the next day, and they didn’t look good enough for first impressions so I removed them and did a simple french manicure.

Would I buy this product again? Yes, it was fun and a nice way to get pretty patterns – though I would never get the solid colors, might as well use normal polish for that price.

Will I finish the sample? Theoretically they are a one time use product, but I cut mine in half so I’ll get another use out of them – and yes I will use them again.

You can buy these for between $8 and $10.00 at pharmacies, but keep an eye out because sometimes you can get them on a “Buy one get one 1/2 off” sale, which makes them much more affordable ($6-7.50 each)

MyGlam Concealer Brush and Defining Eyeliner brush May 27, 2012

Today I bring you the MyGlam Concealer Brush and Defining Eyeliner brush from the May MyGlam Bag. These two brushes are at the final 2 of the my glam signature brush series.  They are probably the brushes that I will use least often, but they are still a nice addition to the set of brushes that they have already sent.

Both Brushes feel like they are made from the same materials.   These brushes, like the previous brushes, are smaller in size than the typical brush you might buy.  I have already said I like this because I do have a smaller eyelid area than many other people.

I am not sure what else to say about these brushes since I described in detail the previous brushes and I don’t really want to be repetitive.  So I will provide you with a few pictures and close-ups and now I’ll answer my normal questions.

Would I buy this product again?  These 2 particular brushes I don’t really have much of the need for so I wouldn’t buy more brushes like these.

Will I finished the sample?    Yes, I will continue using these  brushes as long as they remain in good condition.

Here’s the breakdown:

This estimate is based off the price of crown brush brushes
Sample Size value: $8.00

L’Oréal Paris Wear Infinite Pressed Eyeshadow – 901 Sweet Chemise May 26, 2012

Today I bring you the L’Oréal Paris Wear Infinite Pressed Eyeshadow in 901 Sweet Chemise that I received in my May Look Bag.So, I’m getting a little confused about the Look Bag items.  Last month I received the Laura  Mercier moisturizing water, which was using the title that was now an outdated product.  Before the April Look Bag was even sent out, Laura Mercier had already changed the name of the product and was marketing it as something different.  This month I received the L’Oreal Paris Wear Infinite Pressed eyeshadow, and that seems to be a discontinued product as well.  On the L’Oreal websites they no longer carry a Wear Infinite Pressed Eyeshadow anymore.  Upon searching for the Wear Infinite  Eyeshadow, I found some items for sale that were claimed to be discontinued and were being sold as such.  This product does not seem to be something that is available for purchase any longer.

I’ll still try it out though.  This pressed eyeshadow is a light goldish yellow.  It does feel smooth and not chalky.  On my skin, the color is not very obvious so when I use it I have to use it as a highlight color.  I have tried it a few times since I received it, and it is okay, for a drugstore brand.  Using a primer, the shadow lasted for about 6 hours before it started creasing and fading.  The performance is not amazing, but for the price points that L’Oreal eyeshadows are sold for this performs adequately.

Would I buy this product again?  Probably not, I have lots of eyeshadows that I really like in a plethora of colors so adding less amazing products to my collection isn’t something I plan to do.

Well I finished the sample?  Yes, I will continue using this color on whenever it seems like it would go with the look I’m trying to create.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size:  0.08 oz
Full Size:  0.08 oz
Full Size Price:  $3.00
Sample Value: $3.00*            This price is based on the items I found for sale on sites that sell discontinued L’Oréal products.

Kellett Skincare Moisturizing Gel – Review May 24, 2012

Today I bring you the Kellett skincare moisturizing gel that I received in meaning May  Beauty Army kit.  As I mentioned before I was not too excited about the products that were included in my kit, in particular this one.

I was, however, pleasantly surprised at how great this product is.  Though the container looks incredibly small the  0.1 fl oz sample actually goes quite a long way.  I put this in one of my cosmetics jars that  I’ve shown before, and it lasted over a week.  This particular gel is nearly clear but has a slight milkiness.   Initially, it feels like it sits on top of the skin, but before you realize it, the gel has absorbed fully.  I’m not sure what makes this gel different but I actually feel as if it helped reduce the amount of breakouts on my face.

Overall, I am quite pleased with this particular product.  I am not sure if I will buy it again, but there really isn’t anything about this project that I don’t like.  I just have so many moisturizers right now that I’m not sure if they need to add this one.  If I haven’t found a moisturizer I like more, by the time that I finish my current full-size moisturizer, this will definitely be on my list to pick up.

Would I buy this product again?  Potentially, I really did like it and it really did leave my skin feeling nice and soft and smooth.

Will I finished the sample?  I already did, it lasted just over a week and they really enjoyed it.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.1 oz
Full Size: 1.7 oz
Full Size Price:  $95
Sample Value: $5.58

Pevonia: $15 Gift Card May 23, 2012

Today I bring you the Pevonia $15.00 Gift Card from the May Total Beauty Collection. Some people were not too thrilled with this being part of the box, but I figured I’d find some use for it.  I scoured the Pevonia site looking for items under $15.00. Most of the site is skincare and there is not much for less than $30.00.  They do have some candles and lots of soap bars for under $15.00.

I eventually got to the spa page and there I found Tea.  You may remember how I’m a bit of a tea snob, but when I saw these I had a good feeling about them.  They had four different blends, Energize (black tea), Rejuvenate (green tea), Renew (herbal), and Slenderize (red). I decided to pick the Slenderize, both because I like the idea behind slenderizing teas and because I love rooibos (red) tea.  The teas sell for 17.00 each, and everything at Pevonia is free shipping.  After tax I ended up paying just a little over $3.00.  I also got to pick a free sample on top of the fact that every order receives samples of Age-Defying Marine Collagen Cream and Hydrating Cleanser. The package arrived a quick 4 days later.

I was excited to find that not only did I get the tea, the three samples, but they threw in two more samples, Easy Glide Shaving Emulsion and Anti-Stress Bath and Shower Gel.

So, how did I like the product that I actually ordered?

The tea was delicious. Not only was it refreshing, but it also had excellent flavor. I’m not sure why, but I always find tea more interesting when it is a different color than a normal black or green.   This tea is a whole leaf tea where the ingredients have not been mashed into tiny bits.  Not only does this allow the tea know to taste better, but it also is healthier for you.  When tea is mashed into tiny pieces, it often loses some of the health benefits due to the ingredients being broken down.   As you can see in the pictures, this tea has normal size chunks of dried fruits, berries, and rooibos tea.

Overall, am quite impressed with my Pevonia purchase–especially for paying just $3.  Should I find the need to, I will definitely repurchase from the store in the future.  I look forward to trying each of the samples from their skincare line in the near future.

I am actually glad that this gift card was included in the total beauty collection.  It’s really ended up being worthwhile for me at least.

Have you found any products that you have enjoyed using this gift card?

Stila Cosmetics Forever Your Curl Mascara – Review May 21, 2012

Today I bring you Stila Cosmetics Forever Your Curl Mascara from my May Beauty Bar Sample Society box. It has been quite awhile since I’ve had a mascara sample for you, mostly because I have really been enjoying the mascara and that I’ve been using.  I will definitely be sharing this product with you in the very near future and I am nearing the 3 month mark.  I did want to make sure that I reviewed this mascara in a timely manner along with other products from the May Beauty Bar Sample Society box.  So how did the sample perform?

This product is intended to bring curl to your lashes.  Unfortunately, this is not a waterproof mascara.  I have found that waterproof  mascaras are very important to me, they seem to last much longer and with less leaking than almost any non-waterproof mascara. Did this fit that the non-waterproof mascara stereotype?

A little, while it doesn’t flake as bad as most of the other mascaras I’ve tried, it also does tend to wash off especially during allergy season when my eyes get a little bit more teary anyway.  The color is a true black and that is perfect.  I like how my lashes feel with this mascara on, it doesn’t feel like there’s mascara on my lashes, it just feels like my lashes are there.  How does it curl?  Okay, I definitely still need to use an eyelash curler with this product, however it holds the curl better than most of the other mascaras I’ve ever tried.  It also separates the lashes very nicely and there isn’t any clumping or spider legs.

Before                                                                                    After

Would I buy this product again?  Maybe, it is really nice for a non-waterproof mascara, however, I really would like to find it waterproof mascara that feels this natural on my lashes so I don’t have to compromise one thing for another.

Will I finish this sample?  Probably, it is a really nice mascara and there’s no need to discard something that’s useful like that.  I will probably keep it at work for when I run out of time in the morning.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size:  0.12 oz
Full Size:   0.24 oz
Full Size Price: $22.00
Sample Value: $11.00

Neutrogena revitalizing lip balm Review

Through BzzAgent I recently had the ability to try the Neutrogena revitalizing lip balm. I wasn’t sure about this at first. The packaging said that within a week my lips would show visible improvement so I decided to take a photo so I could accurately remember.

In the meanwhile I tried the product and used it exclusively for the next 7 days. I was lucky enough to get three beautiful colors, (L-R) Healthy Blush, Sunny Berry, and Petal Glow.  Each of these provided a wash of color that enhanced my natural lip shade.  It felt nice on my lips just like any balm should, and was neither shiny nor matte.  If nothing else they are a nice substitute for my other tinted balms.

A week flew by, and I took an after photo (both photos were taken without lip product on) and I was amazed at the improvement in my lip’s texture. The normal flaky skin that I have on my bottom lip through the winter and spring was gone -typically I don’t see that disappear until a few days into summer.

These are available at your local drug store, usually for about $9.00

Will I buy this again? Yes, I like the colors, the texture, and the nourishing effects

Will I finish the sample? Absolutely – these are great!
