YoungBlood – Hi-Definition Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder April 30, 2012

Today I bring you the YoungBlood – Hi-Definition Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder from my April Sindulge box.  This is a white powder  that goes on transparent. It can be used as a setting powder.  I don’t have a lot of use for a setting powder.  I did however receive an eyeliner that wanted to transfer to the upper part of my lid so I used this product and it totally kept the transfer from happening.

While I don’t usually have a need for setting powder this one really did a good job, and I will keep it around for my occasional setting powder need.  If you need or use a setting powder frequently this one is great and you should try it.

Would I buy this again? If I need a setting powder I totally would..

Will I finish this sample? Yep I really like it .

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.02 oz
Full Size: 0.35 oz
Full Size Price:  $40.00
Sample Value: $2.28

ASK Cosmetics’ “Ultimate Bare Naked Nail Challenge” Week 8 April 29, 2012

This is the end of week 8 of the 10 week series for the ASK Cosmetics’ “Ultimate Bare Naked Nail Challenge”. For information about why I started this and details of my nail conditions check out my “The Start” post.

I can’t believe I’ve been doing this challenge for 8 weeks now! Oh I am going to celebrate with SO much polish in two weeks, but I will definitely keep up with the routine.

I’m seeing continued benefits and improvements from last week. I haven’t had 1 chip or peel in 2 weeks (I used to get one at least 3 times a week). My nails are so strong now and I’m confident that i’m not just going to snag them doing my day to day activities.

Check out my progress below!

Laura Mercier – Perfecting Water – Review

Today I bring you the Laura Mercier – Perfecting Water that I received in my April Look Bag. This thin clear liquid is intended to “provides a surge of hydration, preparing the skin for serums and moisturizers by helping the absorption of key ingredients.”   This product has actually changed names, so if you can’t find it by the title above, it can be found as “perfecting water moisture mist”.

I didn’t expect to like this at all. I did enjoy this and felt like my moisturizers were more effective when using it. I think this is a pretty good product. If you have trouble getting your product to absorb into your skin, this may be for you.

Will I buy this again? Maybe, but probably not, I really don’t need any more additions to my daily skin regimen.

Will I finish the sample? Yep it is a really nice product.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.34 oz
Full Size:  6.8 oz
Full Size Price:  $38.00
Sample Value: $1.90

All-Belle – False Eyelashes – Review April 28, 2012

In my April MyGlam bag I received the All-Belle – False Eyelashes in style 2822. These are apparently incredibly popular in Taiwan. I don’t have a ton of experience with falsies but I wore some for my wedding and a few times to get used to them before the wedding. I’ve looked at so many and most seem soooo fake – they are pretty but too dramatic for daytime wear. These looked like they could look fake, but then I tried them on the only thing that looked fake about these was the band – which is pretty typical (except for the Adele barely there band).  These looked soooo pretty on, just making my natural lashes enhanced a bit.  These are also fairly inexpensive, here is a link to a site I found that sells them in the US. The that came with them works OK, but not great. I prefer my clear duo. I’ll probably order some of these soon.

Will I buy these again? Probably!

Will I keep using this sample? Yep!

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size:  1 pair
Full Size:    10 pair
Full Size Price: $26.33
Sample Value: $2.63

Dropps Laundry Detergent – Review April 27, 2012

In my April BirchBox I received the Dropps Laundry detergent packets. You use either one or two depending on your load size and just drop them in with the laundry.  I use these sorts of tablets in my dishwasher because of their convenience. In my washing machine I have the easy pour spout Tide bottle from Costco which gives me a $0.05 washing load.

I have got to say, that subscribing to a beauty sample box I don’t really want to get products like this to wash my clothes with. I can sort of see the tea that we’ve gotten before since it is supposed to clear up the skin. Aside from my disappointment about this being included in this month’s BirchBox I still tried it out. I didn’t find it any better than my much less expensive current detergent.  Its not worth the 30 cents per load increase.

Will I buy this again? No

Will I finish this sample? There were 2 in the packet and it said to use two for a large load, so in that one load of wash I finished the sample.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size 2 Packets
Full Size  20 Packets
Full Size Price $6.00
Sample Value $0.60

Juice Beauty Oil-free Moisturizer – Review April 26, 2012

Today I bring you Juice Beauty Oil-free Moisturizer that I received in my April Birchbox. This is a medium thickness cream that is advertised as a non-poor clogging formula that is good for oily acne prone skin. It also has products in it that are supposed to reduce redness and irritation.

I was not expecting to like this cream at all. I didn’t really like the last Juice Beauty product I tried, but this was surprisingly great. My skin is feeling softer than before. I’ve always had a touch of redness in my cheeks, nose, and forehead, but that has faded, not unhealthy looking, but is more soft than before.  I don’t find that it helps with my zits and still need to use spot treatments.

Will I buy this again? Probably – it was really good and I have some Birchbox points to spend.

Will I finish the sample? Definitiely!

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size 0.17 oz
Full Size  2.0 oz
Full Size Price $28.00
Sample Value $2.38

Pencil Me In Healthy Eyeliner Pencils – Denim – Review April 25, 2012

Today I bring you Pencil Me In Healthy Eyeliner Pencils in Denim which is a blue eyeliner between the color of sky blue and the Microsoft Blue Screen of Death. I received this as part of my April Sindulge Box. I was super excited to receive some makeup – I like makeup and I’d seen some other’s boxes that were not really makeup oriented – though that is probably what they discussed with their consultant.

So how did this perform?

Tan Towel – Review April 24, 2012

Today I bring you the Tan Towel which I received in my April Look Bag. Its been a nice mild spring here so I figured that while it is still jeans weather I should give the Tan Towel a shot so that if it all went wrong I’d not end up too embarassed since I can always wear jeans.

The Tan Towel is a 7×9 inch soft towel – sort of like a extra soft baby wipe that has self tanner in it.  This product DOES NOT have sunscreen and WILL NOT prevent buring. This simply gives the visual appearance of tanned skin.  The product says to wipe it onto the desired area of your skin smoothly and evenly – then to wash your hands immediately.  I took it one step further, I showered and exfoliated my legs so that the surface would be as even as possible. I also used laytex gloves since I really don’t want sunless tanner on my hands, even if it is supposed to wash off if done immediately.  I only did my legs because a half body towel is basically for half the body, and I wasn’t going to start a line at my waste, so I just did my mid thigh down.

How did it work?

By Terry – Echantillon Creme de Rose – Review April 23, 2012

Today I bring you the By Terry Echantillon Creme de Rose from my April Beauty Bar Sample Society Box. This thick cream has a soft crushed rose sent (gosh I never would have guessed from its name *snicker*). It absorbs into the skin at an average rate leaving a slight creamy feeling to the skin after 10 minutes. It claims to have ingredients that help tighten up your skin giving a more useful appearance and is intended to be used each morning on the face, neck and décolleté (upper chest around the collar bones).

How does it perform?

Beats me. I tried it at night because I didn’t want to have a negative reaction and have to live with it all day, but the smell was so strong since you have a scent – even though not as strong as perfume so close to your nose. Luckily I was quite tired so I fell asleep despite the scent. I woke up about 8 hours later – started my daily activites without remembering what I did just before bed (applying the cream) and within a few minutes I started wondering what the strong scent that was following me was. Then I remembered…8 hours later and the scent was still there.

There is no way I can use it again – the scent is just too sweet, and even near my collar bones is too overwhelming for me. I truly wish I could say that this cream gives you an instant facelift, but I can’t bear to have it on to find out.

If you like the smell of sweet roses then you may like this. I’d suggest going and finding a sample before buying a full priced one since this scent will probably make or break it for you.

Will I buy it again? No, I really can’t use with with the fragrance.

Will I finish the sample? No, again, I really can’t use with with the fragrance.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size:  0.14 oz
Full Size: 1.01 oz
Full Size Price: $99.00
Sample Value: $13.72

ASK Cosmetics’ “Ultimate Bare Naked Nail Challenge” Week 7 April 22, 2012

This is the end of week 7 of the 10 week series for the ASK Cosmetics’ “Ultimate Bare Naked Nail Challenge”. For information about why I started this and details of my nail conditions check out my “The Start” post.

I am really seeing results with the strength of my nails now. I’m filing about 3-4 times a day and I carry the file with me everywhere in case I somehow snag a nail (which doesn’t really happen when you file frequently).  The lower part of my cuticles are really looking better, the parts near the the top of the nail are better but not as obviously – its more that I have fewer hang nails than before.

I ordered some more Tips for Toes, I figure I’ll keep using that after the challenge is over until my nails stay strong. I also ordered some of the ASK nail polish remover which gets me even more excited to start painting again – 3 more weeks!!!! I am so anxious – spring is here.  Anyway check below the break for my progress.
