Beauty Bar’s Sample Society Brings new meaning to “deluxe sized samples” – Initial impressions March 15, 2012

Yep, I have another subscription program. This one is brand new – and this is the first box ever. Beauty Bar is a site where you can shop for products, similar to Sephora, or Ulta, just online only.  I was alerted that they would be starting to have a sample program which promised 5 deluxe sized luxury samples and a $15.00 off any purchase with a featured brand – all of this for $15.00 each month – so basically if you were planning to buy any of the featured brands as a full size anyway, the box pays for itself.  You also get a complimentary subscription to Allure.

So what came in the box?

Truvia Sweetener from Influenster

Filed under: Food — slagoon @ 5:05 am

Ah Influenster, they sent me another lovely vox box – this one contained a product that I’m excited to share with you – this is Truvia. Truvia is natural but the sweetness comes from the Stevia plant. It apparently has no calories and is considered sweeter than sugar. It can be used as a sugar substitute.

What did I think of it? It was REALLY sweet – nearly too much so. I have been using it in tea (which I will share in a different post) and I use far less of it than I do when I use real sugar.  I think thats a good thing though.  I have heard others say there is an aftertaste but I haven’t noticed it. I haven’t noticed any ill effects of using it either. All in all I think it is a pretty darn good product.

Check out the macro’s here – it has a crystaline structure just like real sugar – pretty neat right?

Would I get it again? Probably – depends on  how convenient it is to buy compared with other sugar.

Influenster – the Love Vox Box

Influenster did it again. They are a program that you sign up to receive complimentary products to test. Your responsibility is to test them out and report back.  You don’t have to cheerlead – just be honest.  That’s all I’ve ever been about the products – so it comes natural.  During the month of February Influenster chose  some of its members to be part of the “Love Vox Box” testing team – I was selected.  March rolls around and one day I happily found a nice white box at my front door.  Squeeling with delight I went inside and found my utility knife to dig in. And what to my wondering eyes did appear? A box full of love that was ever so clear….sorry had to do it.

The Soap Box – “Voted Best Ever” body lotion in Granny Panties Review

Here is another product from my Soap Box from Fortune Cookie Soap.

“Voted Best Ever” body lotion in Granny Panties. This is supposed to soften, replenish, and moisturize.  This is a green cream that has little darker green chunks suspended in it – I don’t know what they are but they go away when rubbed into my skin.

I’m not quite sure how to describe the scent, maybe a little like aloe and shea butter? Regardless, it smells fresh and clean and is not obtrusive. My hands feel a tiny bit oily after rubbing this in, but not terribly so. I will keep using this.

This product suffers from the same problem as the hand sanitizer did – the hard container. The full size of this product is 4oz so hopefully in the full size it squeezes out more easily.

This was a 1 oz sample. The normal product is 4 oz and sells for $9.99 the value of this sample was $2.49.
