Today I bring you another of my staples. I use this product nearly daily. Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm is a “Multi-Action Skincare + makeup” which includes SPF 45 protection.  Many people have jumped on the Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm (BB cream) bandwagon. These products were popularized in various countries in Asia where the Whitening effect was among the most important aspects. Here in the US, whitening is not necessarily so important, here it is “brightening”. Anyway, this product promises to even skin tone, brighten skin, firm, hydrate, and restore skin. I can’t speak to each of those but I will tell you my experience with the product.

This product moisturizes my combination skin and helps stave off my adult acne. It makes my very fine lines disappear (they are tiny to begin with). My face feels nice and soft (I almost want to keep petting my face) when I wear it, and I feel hydrated, but that my oil is also controlled.  Over time, I do believe my complexion has improved and evened out, though I don’t have a great point of comparison. This cream gives me a medium amount of cover for any blemishes or odd tones I do have, while giving my skin a beautiful dewey radiance.

A couple weeks ago I was volunteering at the Boeing Classic golf tournament, and I had this on my face. I put regular spf 30 sunscreen on my arms and forgot to do anything with the little triangle of skin left by my polo shirt. I had to re-apply my spf 30 on my arms a couple times and still ended up pink at the end of the day.  The triangle burned bad – probably my worst burn ever, but my face – not a sunburn or sunkiss on it! I was super impressed with it.

The formula itself reminds me a lot of Dior Skin foundation as far as the consistency. It is a thick liquid, but still goes on really even and thin. Two pumps does my entire face!

It starts out looking a little grey on my pink hued skin, but after about 5 minutes it finished soaking into my skin and looked very normal (the second swatch is immediately after rubbing the cream in – I could have taken a photo after, but there was really nothing to see over such a tiny area.

Here is a before and after photo:

The only thing different between the photos is the BB cream. I already had my eyes and brows done in both photos. As you can see, the acne between the apples of my cheeks and my ears is softened and barely visible and the huge zit below my lip is less obvious. Also my skin is slightly less reflective while still looking warm and fresh.

I will DEFINITELY buy this cream again – it is worth every penny of its $39.00 price tag.

Have you tried any BB creams? What’s your favorite?
